B — Breasts : engorgement, nipple integrity, latch. U — Uterus : fundal height, firmness, midline position. B — Bladder : voiding, retention, a full bladder displaces the fundus. B — Bowel : return of transit, constipation. L — Lochia : amount, colour, clots, odour. E — Episiotomy or perineum : REEDA. L — Lower extremities : signs of thrombosis. E — Emotional state : attachment, mood, EPDS screening A boggy fundus deviated to the side means a full bladder until proven otherwise.
