Hypoglycemia — recognition
Autonomic, early : tremor, sweating, palpitations, anxiety, hunger, pallor.. Neuroglycopenic, later : confusion, difficulty concentrating, slurred speech, visual changes, unusual behaviour, seizure, coma.. Hypoglycemia unawareness : after years of diabetes or on beta blockers, the autonomic signs disappear and confusion is the first sign. Any sudden behaviour change in a person with diabetes is a capillary glucose reading, not an interpretation. At night the signs are nightmares, sweating and morning headache.
