Control measures
Restraint, isolation and chemical substances are exceptional measures, used only to prevent the person from injuring themselves or others. Conditions: less restrictive alternatives tried and documented as having failed, a written order, the minimum necessary duration, continuous monitoring, and a plan to end the measure. Never for staff convenience, never as punishment, never to compensate for short staffing. A family request does not justify a restraint.
