Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism

Hypothyroidism, everything slows: fatigue, cold intolerance, weight gain, constipation, dry skin, hair loss, bradycardia, depression, slowed thinking. In the older adult it is often mistaken for dementia or depression. Hyperthyroidism, everything speeds up: weight loss despite good appetite, heat intolerance, sweating, tremor, tachycardia or atrial fibrillation, anxiety, insomnia, diarrhea, exophthalmos in Graves disease. Levothyroxine: on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before breakfast, away from calcium, iron and coffee.
