B — Breasts: engorgement, nipple integrity, latch U — Uterus: fundal height, firmness, midline position B — Bladder: voiding, retention, a full bladder displaces the fundus B — Bowel: return of transit, constipation L — Lochia: amount, colour, clots, odour E — Episiotomy or perineum: REEDA L — Lower extremities: signs of thrombosis E — Emotional state: attachment, mood, EPDS screening A boggy fundus deviated to the side means a full bladder until proven otherwise.
